Why it matters

3 /5

Home-fire deaths happen where smoke alarms are missing — or not working.

½

A working smoke alarm roughly halves your risk of dying in a home fire.

10 yrs

A smoke detector's lifespan. After that it's done — working light or not.

7 yrs

The typical lifespan of a carbon monoxide detector.

How it works

①

Tell us the size of the home. We pick a time that works — no window-of-four-hours nonsense.

②

Every smoke and CO detector in the house, bedrooms to basement: new batteries, then cleaned of the dust that causes false alarms — or no alarm at all — tested, and inspected.

③

Units past their lifespan — or yellowed with age, a sure sign they're done — get swapped for hardwired First Alert models with 10-year sealed backups, on the spot.

④

You'll know exactly what was done and when each unit ages out. Then the whole point: you stop thinking about it.

The permanent fix

The detectors we install — First Alert's SM105-AC and the smoke+CO SMICO105-AC combo — are hardwired with a 10-year sealed battery backup . No yearly battery swaps. No ladder in November. No 2AM chirp, for a decade.

When they age out, the unit tells you — and by then you'll have our number.

Colorado law

Since 2009, the Lofgren & Johnson Memorial Carbon Monoxide Safety Act has required working carbon monoxide alarms within 15 feet of every bedroom in Colorado homes that are sold, transferred, rented — or remodeled under permit.

If you're not sure your home is covered, that's exactly the kind of thing we check on a basic service visit.

Watch

The news segment Jayson keeps on his homepage — what happens when detectors aren't maintained, told better than any statistic.

The owner

My name is Jayson Sale. I started as a professional firefighter in 1999 and spent 25+ years in the fire service here in the Denver Metro area — firefighter and paramedic, now retired. In that time I've seen both sides of the same story: the homes where a working detector woke everyone in time — and the tragedies where a missing battery or a worn-out unit meant it never sounded at all.

I started Detector Inspectors LLC to put that experience to work before the emergency: keeping the detectors in your home clean, tested, and in proper working order, at a price that makes it easy to say yes.
